Rangers transfer information right now is akin to something of a bad dream for Rangers fans. Not only has the club struggled badly with moves for both right-backs, Kosta Nedeljković and Hugo Siquet, but the even more astonishing story lies at left-back.
The Penrice deal goes quiet
The James Penrice story has gone bizarrely quiet over the last 12 hours, despite strong information that Rangers were working on a loan-to-buy deal. Instead, the most astonishing revelation has surfaced, courtesy of the credible Sky Sports Scotland, who have not been wrong about a single thing yet. Rangers are in talks to re-sign Brentford’s Jayden Meghoma on loan.

Driouech offers some positive news
Admittedly, it does seem like Couhaib Driouech will indeed be arriving in Scotland after landing at Glasgow Airport to undertake his medical. That is at least some mildly positive news.
However, the club appears to have failed with three full-backs. It has now moved to bring back a loanee who wasn’t any good the first time around. This is something that Ibrox Noise and most Rangers fans can only consider absolutely astonishing.
It is abundantly clear that Rangers have no ideas. All the targets being prioritised, or at least some of them, are failing miserably.
Meghoma becomes the priority
The Penrice deal appears to have gone stone-cold, with Meghoma becoming the priority now. Meanwhile, Siquet has been, and we quote, considered “untouchable”, so that bid failed miserably.
Consequently, the further story regarding Nedeljković has also failed because of the loan and permanent situation. That is to say, Rangers wanted to take this lad permanently. However, in an opposite move to Penrice, the selling club wasn’t so keen and didn’t want to give him away other than on loan.
Put simply, Rangers’ transfer window is going from chaotic to madness. With Meghoma now being a top priority at left-back, we can only wonder what on earth is going to come next.
Rommens’ injury forces Rangers’ hand
The Meghoma talks are clearly because Tuur Rommens is indeed out for a couple of months. Rangers now have absolutely nobody at left-back to provide cover for the next eight weeks. We do hope that Penrice is indeed still on the agenda and that the nevertheless abysmal Meghoma is just as backup.
It is an absolute mess, and few fans can deny that panic buying has clearly set in. What on earth are we going to be subjected to next?
