As is widely known, Rangers are negotiating with PSV over Moroccan winger Couhaib Driouech. The former Morocco under 23 international has never received a senior cap for his country. Nevertheless, he is one of the more promising attackers linked with Rangers. Rangers Champions League attacker could arrive.

Driouech has mixed domestic numbers

His record in the Eredivisie for the Eindhoven giants is solid. 31 goals and assists from 103 appearances.

Those are good numbers. Just under one in three. Not the top end of the scale, but good.

However, his Champions League record is remarkable. He has recorded six goals and assists from 12 appearances at that level.

That is certainly what you would call a player who can deliver. Why he has not produced quite the same form domestically remains a puzzle.

However, the boy does look like a player.

Rangers are negotiating with PSV

We had not previously heard of him. As we know, Rangers are now negotiating a deal.

He has a market value of around £8M. Rangers will do everything possible to sign him for less than that.

Rather randomly, he is surplus at The Philips Stadion. Nevertheless, the lad appears promising, especially because he is a natural left winger.

If Rangers desperately need one thing, it is a quality left winger.

Curtis is not a natural winger

We are sorry, but Findlay Curtis does not fit that position.

No matter how many times Rangers fans tell Ibrox Noise that Findlay Curtis is a left winger, he is not.

He is a utility forward and an impact substitute only. That has become abundantly clear.

Rangers currently lack enough alternatives to do anything other than start him on the left wing. However, that is not his position.

He has shown that he is an okay player there, but not a great one.

Rangers need a decent left winger to progress. Rangers Champions League attacker is needed.

Naturally, we had one in Mikey Moore, but only from January onwards following Tuur Rommens’ arrival.

Obviously, that situation no longer exists and Rangers now need somebody who can deliver.

Rangers need quality on the left

Whether this new Moroccan lad represents the answer is another question. However, negotiations appear far advanced and Rangers are working on bringing him to Ibrox.

We also know other clubs are interested in the boy, who has become quite coveted. He might prove one of the better signings of the summer. However, it remains a pretty random move. Once again, Rangers have chosen a random option rather than bringing in somebody obvious. The club simply never does that.

We do not quite know why, but it always seems to be the case.

Nevertheless, we will see whether Mr Morocco arrives soon to potentially shore up that left hand side.
