Guessing today’s, predicting today’s starting XI to face St Mirren in the League Cup at Ibrox is a fool’s errand. All we know is that there’s a possibility that James Penrice could make his debut only one day after signing. Rangers v St Mirren prediction is a fool’s errand.
This would be a nice boost for Rangers fans, who have had an absolutely wretched season in this campaign.
Consequently, what would we predict as fools for this XI?
Rangers desperately need a back four
Derek McInnes desperately needs to set up a back four. The three doesn’t work and is a complete mess.
The four in itself isn’t exactly spectacular either. But, at the end of the day, Rangers need something, and they need something quickly.
Penrice may well debut at left back.
The middle, the rest of the four, will be the usual of Pandur in goals, right back of Sterling and the centre pairing of Makhayna and Fernandez.
We can’t see anybody else playing there.

Midfield remains anybody’s guess
In midfield, well, that is also anybody’s guess.
Dragojević has not enjoyed the best start to his Rangers career.
Not only was he an absolute mess after coming on as a cameo against Jagiellonia, but his debut was bizarre.
He started in a right midfield stroke right back position that no one could understand in the first place. He was removed at half time.
Consequently, Dragojević, for all the hype around him, hasn’t exactly sparkled on his start.
Dan Neil has also been absolutely ghastly, but does seem to have a bit of an Indian sign over McInnes. He may well find himself in place for this one.
Rangers simply have to win
This is a must win for Rangers. As if any match isn’t a must win for this club.
We’re going to stop predicting there because guessing the rest is absolutely pointless.
The only thing that we know for sure is who’s not playing, and that’s Chermiti, of course, and Tuur Rommens.
There are one or two others who may not be available as well.
Rangers are in an absolute mess, and predicting the outcome of this one is also a fool’s errand. Rangers v St Mirren prediction is impossible at this point.
We can only hope that Rangers find a victory to at least get to the next round.
However, the fact is that the personnel is such a mess at present, with a complete lack of balance. We can’t even begin to predict with any certainty what on earth McInnes will pick.
All we can do is cross our fingers and pray for a win.
