If only things could get even worse for Rangers eh? Well, it seems they will after a double transfer shock rocked Ibrox. It followed another diabolical Rangers performance and result. As we all know, Rangers suffered a limp defeat to Hibernian during Derek McInnes’ much vaunted Ibrox debut as manager.
Rangers suffered another inevitable defeat
Every goal was questionable and Rangers took the lead through an own goal. Nevertheless, the result became inevitable once Rangers’ dire performance took hold.
There was slightly more impetus during the second half. However, the damage had already been done.
The visiting side’s late winner came as a shock to nobody.
However, the double transfer blow revealed after the match summarises and epitomises the complete mess Rangers are currently in.
Chermiti injury follows rejected £25M bid
Rangers, of course, infamously rejected a £25M bid for Youssef Chermiti this summer.
Turkish giants Galatasaray have placed him at the top of their summer target list. They could make another attempt to bring the Portuguese striker to Istanbul.
However, they more likely won’t, for one very simple reason.
Chermiti suffered an appalling injury after a diabolical foul sent him crashing into the advertising hoardings.

He had to leave Ibrox in a leg brace and only scans will reveal how serious the injury is.
However, we could be talking about many, many months and an absolute end to any transfer potential.
Of course, Rangers accepting the £25M bid would not have prevented this injury. The boy simply suffered it at a terrible time.
However, it further highlights the woeful management taking place above Derek McInnes. The problems do not solely concern the former Hearts coach himself.
Rangers receive £5M Diomande bid
A double whammy then emerged when Rangers received a £5M bid for Mohamed Diomande.
The fact that Rangers have received it and have not yet accepted it is literally bewildering.
The Côte d’Ivoire ‘international’, and we say that loosely, has been an absolutely terrible signing for Rangers.
He represents an example of Nordsjælland’s brilliant system. They sign African academy players cheaply before selling them for massive profits.
Rangers became one of the victims here.
The club spent £4.5M on a player who has contributed next to nothing since arriving over two years ago.
Put simply, rejecting that offer or not yet accepting it demonstrates Rangers’ diabolical management once again.
These problems go above and beyond the football coaching staff.
It seems like a constant merry go round of bad decisions taken by the wrong people.
This proves Graeme Souness absolutely correct. He suggested that non football people were making all the wrong decisions at Rangers.
That explains why so much of the recruitment has gone horribly wrong.
Rangers continue moving backwards
Olwethu Makhanya did not have the worst debut of all time. We must also admit that Daisuke Yokota had a decent match against Hibs.
Nevertheless, most summer signings have looked like fish completely out of water on a beach.
Consequently, Rangers are no stronger now than before the window opened. Coach McInnes claims Rangers will become stronger and look different by the time the window closes.
Well, we are not sure about becoming stronger, especially if recruitment continues along its current path.
Dan Neil finally found himself dropped entirely. That did not help much either.
We will have a separate piece entirely on Nico Raskin and his appalling display.
However, the Hibs match proved Rangers are going further backwards. They cannot win under Derek McInnes to save themselves.
That transfer double whammy simply summed up the pitiful vibe surrounding Ibrox these days.
