Rangers have been hit with a potential double injury shocker after not only did the club confirm Youssef Chermiti is effectively out for the season, but Belgian left back Tuur Rommens has been rumoured as out for two months.
We as yet can’t verify the latter, but the club has confirmed Chermiti’s ‘significant period’ out after suffering an ACL injury.
Following assessment, striker Youssef Chermiti suffered an ACL injury in Sunday’s match with Hibernian. Youssef will be out of action for a significant period of time.

Anyone seeing the pictures of Chermiti could tell it was a very bad one. And an ACL injury is a season-ender in all but very rare cases.
And while Chermiti’s been anything but a spectacular success, Rangers didn’t need a bad injury to anyone at this point in the season after such a poor start.
Then there’s Rommens. As we reported before, the Belgian hasn’t had the most outstanding start to this season following his stellar January to June, and a lot of that is down to losing Mikey Moore.
But the arrival of Couhaib Driouech may have given Rommens quite the boost on the left, and for now, if the rumours are true, Rommens will not be available till deep into autumn. Hence, we suspect, the stepping up interest in AEK Athens’ James Penrice.

We will have more reporting on the implications here in due course, but Rangers now have just three strikers to choose from, and none are coming close to delivering.
The Rommens stuff is very troubling, and though he hadn’t caught fire yet, he likely would have with the arrival of the Moroccan.
More on all of this in due course.
