The German former manager became deeply unpopular, but nevertheless left Rangers third in the league.
Rangers have returned to Martin territory

A Rangers man guarantees nothing
The notion that appointing a Rangers man as manager would fix everything at Ibrox now feels like a distant memory.
Only after processing the idea does its reality begin to emerge.
A Rangers man with coaching experience does not necessarily represent the right manager for Rangers. Barry Ferguson proves that.
Nobody could be more dyed in the wool blue than Barry. He is a huge Rangers man and loves the club with every ounce of his soul.
However, even he showed that his allegiance to the club could not compensate for being absolutely clueless.
Everything that could go wrong under Ferguson did. He amassed just 6 wins from 15 matches.
Derek McInnes has yet to win a single competitive game. No manager in Rangers’ history has ever been this bad.
Rangers cannot score from open play
If we count friendlies, Rangers recorded four victories in four meaningless matches. However, McInnes’ side has yet to score from open play competitively.
Against Hibs, the penalty never was. It was a bizarre decision. However, that provides no excuse.
The team could not have scored in a month of Sundays. Rangers produced no quality and, simply put, had absolutely nothing going for them.
When that late winner went in, it only proved how little Del knew about what he was doing.
It was painful to watch. Rangers have fallen abundantly into Martin territory all over again.
A draw followed by a home defeat is beyond unacceptable for Rangers.
McInnes could already face the sack
There is no question that Derek McInnes currently has no clue what he is doing.
Ibrox Noise, like every other fan, wanted this manager. However, Rangers are now tumbling horribly into Martin territory.
The club has fallen into the relegation zone all over again after spending £20M this summer.
This could already be sack territory.
