If there is one positive from McInnes’ early diabolical regime at Ibrox, it has been his honesty following both matches. In particular, his media appearance after the horrendous result against Białystok confirmed that he could see what we were seeing.
McInnes showed no delusion
There was no delusion here and he did not try to stitch anyone up. He did not suggest that Rangers supporters had their eyes painted on.
McInnes was harsh. He included himself in the criticism by addressing the whole picture.
He did not specifically name the squad or himself. He simply said that the entire situation was not good enough.
The fact that he showed such honesty and expressed it so precisely deserves a thumbs up.
Rangers fans will not have the wool pulled over their eyes. Well, these days they probably will.
After all, Russell Martin and Danny Rohl repeatedly managed it.
McInnes understands Rangers’ standards
Nevertheless, McInnes is a Rangers man. He knows very well what is and is not acceptable from a Rangers manager.
He has been extremely critical of what is happening on the pitch.
Of course, this falls within his remit. It is what he is supposed to fix.
He is suggesting that things are not good enough yet, which includes him. That represents the kind of honesty and humility Rangers need.

The Hibs match will reveal more
We will also wait to see how things go against Hibs before becoming any more critical. Thus far, it has been a ghastly era in Rangers history.
However, McInnes is at least not attempting to pull the wool over anybody’s eyes.
He is being honest without constantly using the word “disappointing”.
Yes, we are very, very tired of former managers and captains calling everything disappointing. These situations are often far worse than merely disappointing, let us tell you that.
Rangers need better from everyone
McInnes is no fool. He knows what he is up against and understands the deal here.
He is being honest about how the team and, we assume, himself are falling short at the moment.
Rangers need better from everybody. At least McInnes is striving to achieve that.
