There’s a lot to plough through today but one of the biggest about-turns Ibrox Noise has had to do concerns John Souttar.

Only yesterday we were bigging him up for a career under Derek McInnes and Rangers. A renaissance for the Scotland international whose Rangers career just never truly sparkled.

Then today it’s been confirmed he’s leaving!

John Souttar didn’t travel to Spain and instead is negotiating his transfer to likely Leicester under everyone’s favourite Russell Martin.

That interest surfaced some weeks ago and we did completely let it slip when discussing his future.

In all honesty we’re not bothered at all to lose Souttar, wherever he goes.

He just didn’t develop into the Rangers-level defender he needed to grow into and League One is perfect for him.

Why he’s leaving we’re not sure. He signed a new contract in February to extend till next summer, with an option for another.

So his leaving now for pastures new is very, very unexpected and left field.

Clearly something has happened to change the picture, and while other outlets are guessing at why, we’re not going to do that.

Many are claiming McInnes has thrown him out, we’re not so sure.

Whatever has happened has seen a lucrative new contract, hyped up for months, now ditched, and Souttar is working his ticket out of Govan to join up with, seemingly, Russell Martin.

We admit we didn’t see that coming, even if we knew of their interest going back a few weeks.

We didn’t think Rangers would want to sell or he’d even want to go.

One of those has happened.

And it won’t be long before Rangers have made a decent profit on a player who cost them nothing.

Derek McInnes’ summer revamp heavily continues.
