Rangers’ pursuit of £6M Serb Vanja Dragojević got a step closer after Partizan Belgrade’s attempts to replace him also advanced.
Partizan are moving in on a loan for Slavia Prague’s Timothy Ouma who plays the same slot. However a Kenyan-based outlet are reporting that the signing is to aid their assault on the Europa Conference League next season.
We’re not sure that’s the only reason. But indeed, Rangers’ mission to get the Serb appeared to be closing in as of this weekend.
Some outlets are claiming the deal for Ouma is done, but it isn’t, and it would only be a loan.
But either way, they’ve made the move for a defensive midfielder. Consequently Rangers’ endeavours to bring in Dragojević appear a stage nearer.
There is only one slight caveat here with Rangers’ pursuit of £6M Serb.
Rangers currently have 6 defensive midfielders: Nicolas Raskin, Dan Neil, Ross McCrorie, Tochi Chukwuani, Connor Barron and of course new boy Cammy Devlin.
Now while Raskin is likely to leave and McCrorie probably used more as a RB, Rangers are still stocked rather well in that area.
We wonder why we’d need a seventh DM. Rangers’ pursuit of £6M Serb is odd.
We know that was obviously McInnes’ own position back in the day, and very good at it he was. He is seeking very much to have a tonne of quality in the middle. Clearly so that Rangers are able to control and dominate in that area.
And also, of course, to match and indeed bully opponents in the middle.
But 7?
It does seem rather a lot, but Del knows what he’s doing.
And it seems like the deal for the Serb is getting closer.
