It appears, unless anything unforeseen occurs, that Derek McInnes and Rangers are happy with their attacking options going forward.
Lawrence Shankland, Youssef Chermiti, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski are now Rangers’ strikers up front, with the news Danilo is negotiating his exit.
Shankland, of course, was Rangers’ big marquee summer signing up front, and the one fans wanted. But while there remains interest in Rangers’ Portuguese striker, nothing concrete has manifested yet and unless it does, he, Shankland, Naderi and Miovski are to be Rangers’ options for next season.
Simply put, Rangers are reasonably happy with what they have, and while every team would like to have Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane up front, Rangers have settled for the aforementioned four.
It is unknown yet how the setup will work, and of course injuries and suspensions mean it’s not just a clean four strikers available every week.
We don’t know yet exactly how McInnes will pair these guys up, or if there will be a first choice hitman or other.
But information reaching us now is that unless one of them departs, those four are to be Rangers’ striking options going forward.
Shankland the star man, and likely Youssef Chermiti in concert with him.
Under a far better regime, McInnes gives all 3 existing strikers a hard reset and chance to prove themselves worthy of the shirt. In different ways, all 3 fell short last season, and it’s a blank canvas under this boss.
So unless Lyon come in with that £25M or thereabouts bid for Chermiti, he will stay alongside Naderi and Miovski. There is no known interest in either of them at the moment.
