Ibrox Noise understands Rangers are intending to ‘push the boat out’ to secure Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojević.
The Serbian giants rate their captain at around the £6M mark and Rangers have thus far offered €4.5M.
This is not acceptable to the Serbs who are holding onto their prize player (alongside midfield partner Ognjen Ugrešić) unless the bid matches their valuation.
Rangers want a firm and solid defensive midfielder who Derek McInnes rates as his prime choice. Dan Neil is regarded as depth although may be the Serb’s partner in a two-man midfield.
But as far as the Serb goes, Rangers will need to invest what they did in Croat Ivor Pandur (£6M) to secure Dragojević as Derek McInnes’ latest signing.
It also calls, as we mentioned on Ibrox Noise earlier, Tochi Chukwuani’s position into question. The January signing has failed to live up to his reputation and now potentially faces two new signing rivals for a jersey. Three if we include Ross McCrorie in the equation.
Transfermarkt rates Vanja Dragojević at €8M which does come out at around the £6.5M mark. He is clearly a marquee player and widely-rated as one of the Serb league’s prize assets.
Rangers securing him would be a big deal but he isn’t going to come cheap.
