There’s no coincidence that Rangers winger Oliver Antman was Go Ahead Eagles’ Player of the Season and had amassed a theoretical value of £30M.
Dutch football expert Joost van der Leij told Rangers fans the Dutch side had lost a player worth that kind of money, and when looking at his Eredivisie stats, it’s easy to see why.
He was borderline world class and Rangers got him on a steal.
It didn’t work out at Ibrox at all, not under Russell Martin and not under Danny Rohl.
Fans mocked van der Leij and his judgement, and then he told us Andreas Skov Olsen was a dud even before we signed him.
So the guy may be worth listening to. Even though fans didn’t want to hear that about the Dane at the time.

Van der Leij praised Antman.
And Rangers fans saw a few glimpses of his promise. His debut v Plzen. Some appearances this year with Tuur Rommens behind him.
In short, Rangers have a ready-made on-hand outstanding winger that has, like the rest, a reset button.
22 in 36 for the Dutch was excellent. He showed what he was becoming.
But Martin coached it out of him, and Rohl was never interested even when he was fit.
Rangers have a ready-made winger just aching to try again in Govan. With Oliver Antman and Derek McInnes in town, could Antman finally be given a serious chance to play for the club and show why Rangers forked out £4.5M for him?
We’d like that.
In front of Tuur Rommens, Antman is a different player. Just like Mikey Moore was.
The Belgian left back does so much work on the left that he gives wingers freedom. He gives them space, overlaps, options. And Antman, briefly, benefited from that.
Rangers could have a RW already on the table and not have to pay a penny for him. Oliver Antman and Derek McInnes could work very well indeed for the Famous.
