If ever Rangers fans were in any doubt over the potential return of Mikey Moore from Spurs, two developments provided definitive nails in that coffin. Those were his interview on Spurs TV and Derek McInnes’ inaction over potentially retrieving him. Mikey Moore Rangers future has surfaced again.

Moore eventually shone at Rangers

Last season’s on loan winger from the Premier League giants initially struggled to settle into life at Ibrox. That came despite his £20M market value price tag. But once Tuur Rommens arrived in Govan, Moore showed a completely different side and was able to express himself fully.

He became Young Scottish Player of the Year and Rangers Young Player of the Year. He shone in the second half of the season, in no small part thanks to the Belgian’s input.

However, the excitement there had been the potential to return for him. Previous manager Danny Rohl had claimed that Rangers would do everything in their power to bring the boy back.

De Zerbi assessed the winger

But Ibrox Noise exclusively told you that Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi would be running the rule over the winger. He wanted to see how he felt about him in terms of his future at Spurs.

Ibrox Noise understands that Moore has not only impressed in preseason, but he will also play a role going forward. He is not regarded as being fully ready for the first team in England. But De Zerbi wasn’t interested in him returning to Ibrox.

He wasn’t impressed with the level of the Scottish Premiership, which we can’t really criticise him for.

Moore wants his Spurs opportunity

As for Moore himself, he spoke on Spurs TV and expressed how thrilled he was to be back. He wanted a shot at getting into the first team and to see where his future lay.

He was, of course, happy at Rangers. There’s no question he enjoyed his time at Rangers. But at the same time, the boy has ambition and he does have talent.

He said:

“Mikey Moore, well played. How did it feel to be back in a Spurs shirt?”

“Yeah, I’m buzzing to be back. It was good to get a runout today. I think the boys did all right. It was good to get going again and be back in the Tottenham shirt.”

“It was a really interesting setup in the second half, with so many young players coming in and perhaps not playing in their natural positions. Maybe that wasn’t the case for you, as you got to drift out to the left hand side, but how did you feel everyone else got on?”

“Yeah, I think all the boys were good and dealt with it well. There were a lot of attackers on the pitch. I think we had only one natural defender out there, so we did well. There are things that we need to clean up, and the manager has been top. He has made it clear what he wants, so it was a good first game.”

“How hard have you worked over the summer?”

“I’ve tried my best to come back in the best possible shape and make a good account of myself. The first 45 minutes were about trying to get some minutes again, but now I need to show what I can do.”

“That was a bit of a leading question because you have worked incredibly hard over the summer. You’ve come back looking physically very strong, and that’s something you’ve specifically focused on.”

“Yeah, 100%. To compete in the Premier League, where I want to play football, you need to be physically at the right level. You need to be as good as all the other boys in the league because it’s so physically demanding. It’s something I had to work hard on over the summer. I’m feeling good in myself, and now I need to show that technically I’m also at a good level.”

“How much did that loan do for you? I got the chance to spend a little bit of time with you, and they loved you up there. What did it do for you to experience playing for another massive club?”

“Rangers are a huge club. I absolutely loved every second of my time there, and I think I’ve come back a better player and a better person because of the experiences I had. Now I need to try to bring that here because this is another massive club. Throughout preseason, whatever chance I get, I just want to show that I’ve come back as a better player, a better person and physically stronger.”

He needs talented players behind him, as he did at Rangers for a period. But he will have far better with Spurs. They have massively invested this summer and intend to make a much stronger fist of things in the Premier League next season.

Consequently, his own testimony suggests that Moore is indeed content with staying in London. Whether or not he goes out on loan, time will tell. Indeed, the rumours have regarded a potential loan to Germany.

Rangers have moved on

But De Zerbi won’t let him go back to Rangers. That is unless, of course, Rangers were to put up £30M for his signature. That, of course, is never going to happen.

Mikey Moore Rangers future situation is absolutely dead in the water and has been for some considerable time. Rangers have moved on.

The problem is that there is no distinct left winger in the squad at the moment. That is something Derek McInnes really needs to address. Because, as we said, he has shown no interest whatsoever in retrieving Moore from Spurs at all.
