Yes, Lawrence Shankland has finally linked up with the Rangers squad after his summer endeavours playing for Scotland in the World Cup. Like most other Scotland players, bar Lewis Ferguson admittedly, Shankland did not exactly shine for the national regime, with a manager who was killing his style, pretty much like he was trying to kill the country.
Ready to deliver for Rangers
But the importance here is what Shankland can do for club. We know his goal rate for Hearts. We know his goal rate for Dundee United. We know his goal rate for pretty much every club he has ever played for. And he has developed at the perfect rate for Rangers. He is ready, completely, to deliver for Rangers at full pelt.
A perfect reunion with McInnes
Not only have the stars aligned on his return to Ibrox, but he also gets his former Hearts manager. That just happens to be a complete bluenose himself in Derek McInnes. This script could not have been written any better.
Seeing Shankland back in Govan is a fantastic sight. Of course, he was only a youth when he was released by Rangers, and he has done the rounds in his career, developing to this point. But we now see the homecoming.
Finally back where he belongs
Shankland has finally arrived at Auchenhowie to put down his roots properly. He is fresh and he is ready. We expect lots of goals and a very good vibe from this guy back in Govan at long, long last.
It has been a long, long, long time coming, but finally seeing him on the training pitch makes the world feel a little bit better, does it not?
