There is one player Ibrox Noise has literally never discussed pretty much since his arrival. He came in with a boat of fanfare. This was from a big name club and was said to be the next big thing. Back in those days when this gentleman originally signed, it was perpetrated that he had the choice of Europe. He had elected not to sign a new deal at his current club. Who were eager to extend his deal, so they said. However, it turned out in time there was a very good reason for this. For why AC Milan were really not that bothered to lose out on Clinton Nsiala.
The reality behind the signing
Yes indeed, signed during Philippe Clement’s era back in January 2025, this defender has to be going down as one of the worst that Rangers have ever had. Even though there are certainly worse. The fact that Nsiala has just never shone, except for one or two brief moments, where his low standards looked stronger thanks to such a poor Rangers team at the time. Nevertheless, the French player has absolutely stunk as a signing.

No route into the Rangers team
He is now 22, and there is absolutely no chance that he will even be in the match squad next season. Never mind a first team regular. That suggests the low stock in which he is held. His performance, admittedly in a friendly against the Kaizer Chiefs, showed just how rank this youngster is. Admittedly, as we said, he is 22 and therefore not technically a youngster any more. Nevertheless, the fact that Rangers are looking at other defenders of that same age, basically to come in, shows just how low in regard he is held.
A transfer that never worked
Nsiala is what someone would call an absolute journeyman defender. He is an exceedingly average player to say the least, who never developed at all. He was, of course, away on loan at Ibrox and just has not been in any way regarded as something that the team actually wanted to use. We do not know why Clement ever signed this boy. He is nothing more than absolute mediocrity and completely out of his depth. It is abundantly clear why Milan were not bothered to lose him from what they call their youth academy or Primavera.
Time to move on
At the same time, we cannot understand why there were so many clubs apparently interested in him. In reality, we sort of can. Agent talk, desperate to get his client a big gig, and he managed to do it. He got him Rangers and he has barely played any minutes at Ibrox. He has underwhelmed whenever he has. There was a brief moment where he looked like he had some decent distribution. But overall Clinton Nsiala has been an absolute bomb scare of a signing. A complete and total waste of everyone’s time, and just one of the many poor decisions taken in recent transfer windows.
We are hoping very much that this present summer is the start of a better transfer window for Rangers. Value for money and quality arriving. We know there will be duds. There are duds no matter who does the signing or how much is spent. Not every signing can work out. But Nsiala really was an absolute bomb. He is definitely one that we would want to move on if possible.
