It’s another blockbuster day for Rangers fans as one new arrival is confirmed signed, while another two are on the verge of exits.
Cammy Devlin was indeed announced this morning as Rangers’ latest summer recruit, one Ibrox Noise is very very happy with. It pours cold water over the nonsense story regarding Ryan Fossi that the clickbait press ran with yesterday. The one Ibrox Noise told you was fabrication. The whole time Rangers were sorting out the Australian.
We will talk more about Devlin in due course, but we’re very happy to see that one.
Breaking news
Meanwhile the further breaking news this hour is the imminent departures.
Making Ibrox Noise’s John Souttar article look very silly indeed is the news he’ll be leaving, likely for Leicester and Russell Martin.
He remained behind in Scotland and didn’t travel to the Spanish camp with Derek McInnes. So the potential for him to improve under Del isn’t happening.
Meanwhile also remaining behind for transfer purposes is Danilo. We don’t know if this one is a sale or loan, but Rangers are desperate to get him off the wage bill and he’s desperate to leave.
He cut a cheery figure at Auchenhowie preseason, but likely because he knew he was getting his move.
Wasted cash
He’s cost Rangers around £12M without a lot of return. He was a horrendous investment and his ‘Da’ gave us more than he did.
So he and Souttar will leave Rangers once the i’s are dotted and the t’s are scored in both cases.
Souttar may or may not have been part of Del’s plans going forward but that’s dead in the water now and also rips into our ‘depth’ article for defence too. Rangers will now only have two CBs, one leftie (Fernandez) and one righty (Godfrey).
More definitely required there. Slim pickings at the back.
Danilo definitely wasn’t part of Rangers’ plans but until this deal gets done he’s continuing to cost Rangers money. Sooner the contract is signed and he’s gone the better.
Doubt Rangers will recoup a lot of that wasted £12M though.
