It’s about time Ibrox Noise went for the jugular on this one, and explained how we knew Danny Rohl was a fail from the moment he was unveiled.
In truth, we knew the guy was a horrendous appointment from even before the word go. But there was one incident at his unveiling which summed him up, and summed the situation up.
The situation, of course being the fact Rangers had resorted to this clown coach. After, that is, good ones had turned down Thelwell and Stewart having previously said yes.
And what was the incident?
Well, a journo questioned Rohl on indeed being fourth or fifth choice. It was the biggest elephant in the room and it was why he’d originally withdrawn from consideration.
Rohl’s response?
He got angry, petty, and had a contemptuous grin at the daring of the question.
Not only did he absolutely bite on the bait given him. But he showed how immature he was by offering only antagonism back.
It was not a good look for a Rangers manager, to take that kind of bait and munch on it.
He attacked the journo, he even evaded the question a bit. And the utterly arrogant smile on him and disgust at being questioned on that was the immediate red flag for us.
It was a prelude to Rohl’s stunning arrogance in the Rangers role – never backing down and admitting errors, never accepting he’d made mistakes. Frequently throwing his own players under the bus and eventually, just like Russell Martin, gaslighting the fans.
Yes, Rohlites, as we call them on Ibrox Noise, overlooked the times Rohl called fans out and blamed them for Rangers’ performances and results. He did it more than once. Yet like victims of Stockholm Syndrome, fans backed him in their droves.
He said:
“I couldn’t understand this (booing), I must say this. I love our fans, really, but today I was really surprised. In the last couple of weeks we spoke about ‘we’, and ‘we’ want to be together, and ‘we’ need the crowd. We led very early in this first half and then I was really surprised, but it’s my job then to give my players the right feeling for this game, the right instruction. Maybe this deserves sometimes a little bit of positive energy.”
This was him blaming fans for being unhappy during Rangers’ dire 5-1 win over Killie in February. So it was Rangers fans to blame that the match was so bad.
There were also the multiple times he took journo bait about Celtic, feasting on the banter offered and attacking the east end lot. That is something a Rangers manager does not do.
And none of the above is anything to do with his multiple fails on the pitch.
We know there’s still a few moonhowlers out there who would rather have Danny Rohl than Derek McInnes, but we don’t take them too seriously.
Derek McInnes will have Rangers and Ibrox Noise’s full backing, and Danny Rohl can take his ignominious place in Rangers’ historic hall of shame alongside Russell Martin and Kevin Thelwell.
