Not only did Keith Jackson corroborate Ibrox Noise’s information regarding Andrew Cavenagh and Danny Rohl, he has now done the same regarding Derek McInnes. The truth about Derek McInnes is revealed.
Some quick background: Jackson backed up our notion that Cavenagh’s commentary over Danny Rohl was in fact a ruse to drum up interest in the German. That the American chairman was done with Rohl but wanted to mark up his value. You can’t do that if you say he’s expendable.

Well, Jackson has now further addressed what Ibrox Noise has been reporting the past 6+ years, which is the true conditions behind Derek McInnes’ original Ibrox knock back.
We can’t verify Jackson’s claims about Dave King, although we can well believe them, but we can double down on his admission that Walter Smith was why Derek McInnes said no to Rangers the first time. The truth about Derek McInnes isn’t sinister at all.
That is, Derek McInnes’ mentor was Rangers’ late boss. The man he went to for advice in his managerial career, even if he was actually one of Dick Advocaat’s charges back in the day.

McInnes as a Rangers man wanted the counsel of the best, and that was Walter.
Ourselves and Jackson may slightly have different accounts of WHY Walter suggested McInnes not take the job. That is, Jackson believes Walter warned McInnes against working under Dave King. We believe the reason was down to little more than maturity.
Either way, what Walter advised McInnes on shaped his decision.
We’re not 100% sure that Walter based it on King. Rangers have had many bosses since then and King is long gone. McInnes had many chances to become Rangers manager before now.
We’re more sure the reason is what we’ve told you before. McInnes has long-admitted Walter was his mentor, and he did speak to him about this job.
And the reason was one of maturity. That McInnes just wasn’t ready for the Rangers job 9 years ago.
And Walter wasn’t shy to tell him that. And that’s why he turned the gig down, for ‘now’.
But he was always destined to take it at some point, and now is clearly the time.
So whether it was Dave King, maturity or anything else, Walter Smith guided McInnes right and now Del is ready to do the job for real.
