Rangers must make move for 200-app Premier League free agent

With the certainty that Rangers are going to see much overhaul this summer, Ibrox Noise may have been potent in pointing out that if deals can be done for the likes of Lewis Ferguson and Billy Gilmour, Rangers would be very, very well set in bringing these two to Govan.

Both Rangers men, both Scottish, and both almost certainly would love to come back to Rangers and play a big part in the campaign going forward.

However, the price is of course a big problem and Ibrox Noise is well aware of that.

Another Midfield Option

However, there is another option as well on top of these, which open minds could certainly look into as well, with former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma available as a free agent.

A Mali international with 46 caps, he has 200 appearances in the Premier League for Spurs and is clearly an outstanding player, even if he has had a few injury concerns.

Obviously Tottenham had a diabolical season last campaign and only just managed to stay up.

And of course there are also the plot twists which are ongoing regarding former Rangers loanee Mikey Moore.

But Bissouma is a free agent, having put in over 200 appearances for the London giants, and with a market value of around £10M, he is definitely nothing to shake at either.

Quality Rangers Need

The fact is that Rangers will need some talent coming in.

They will need some top talent in order to take the squad to the next level.

The likes of Bissouma could well be a distinct option.

Of course he will be used to Premier League wages, but the fact is that he is now a free agent and while he will probably go off to the Middle East or some such at the age of 29, nevertheless he is a possibility of a player that Rangers could look into.

Being a defensive midfielder, Rangers now lack players of a level of quality in that position.

Current Options

We really only have two options at present. Those are Nico Raskin, who is barely a defensive midfielder any more, and the rather underwhelming Chucky, who has quite frankly been a very poor addition and has not played the way that anyone expected him to, nor has he delivered in any way like anyone expected him to.

Those two are basically the only options available to Danny Rohl for next season.

Yves Bissouma, who is not just a defensive midfielder, but is a massive engine room man, could be another addition to the ranks of a high quality.

Strength In Depth

There is of course Connor Barron and the returning Lyall Cameron, but the manager does not appear to favour either of them.

Having the extra options like Bissouma could certainly help Rangers over the summer.

We will see if he is one that Rangers may actually look into.
