Ibrox Noise understands Rangers are willing to listen to offers for Portuguese striker Youssef Chermiti. Recent information has come to light regarding Rangers’ requirements for his fee. While Chermiti is said to be relatively happy in Glasgow, many offers are now coming in for the former Porto striker regarding a potential departure from Rangers.
Chermiti’s Rangers Value Rising
Rangers, of course, signed the lad for an exorbitant £11M last summer. After a slow start, he gained a little traction, but it was too little too late. While his numbers were respectable in the end, he was not regarded as an outstanding investment of that sum of money.
Rangers are known to have rejected a bid last winter window of £13M from Besiktas. This was hard cash and it was turned down. Rangers fans at the time were absolutely apoplectic at this decision.
However, his stronger second half of the season, combined with a relatively decent split, has led to his value rising. He is now worth £18M on Transfermarkt and is the subject of interest from many clubs at the moment. Ibrox Noise understands Galatasaray, Besiktas, Porto and PSV Eindhoven are among those monitoring him.
Shankland Changes The Picture
Rangers are open to the sale, considering him a reasonable asset but an expendable one. The arrival of Lawrence Shankland has changed the picture. He is now 100% expected to be Rangers’ main focal point up front.
Rangers, of course, have far too many strikers on the books. Chermiti, Shankland, Bojan Miovski, Ryan Naderi and Brazilian Danilo represent a colossal wage structure that needs to be shed.
If Rangers can receive a hefty chunk of cash for Chermiti, while also getting him off the wage bill, it would be regarded as a decent piece of business this summer.
Rangers Want A Huge Fee
In terms of the fee, Rangers are said to be seeking at least £25M for Chermiti’s signature. Rangers are not in a financial position where they have to sell anybody and can hold plenty of cards in negotiations.
Chermiti cost a heck of a lot and is, of course, Rangers’ second most expensive signing of all time. As such, Rangers would certainly expect to sell for a very high amount.
The club is most definitely open to offers, as long as the figure is acceptable. It is very likely indeed that Chermiti would be sold if that offer arrives.
Player Open To A Move
He himself is quite open to departing Rangers. While content enough at Ibrox, he has no issue whatsoever moving to a better league or a bigger club.
Time will tell how this one develops.
