Ibrox Noise can scarcely believe the difference in vibe at Ibrox. Rangers fans finally have a manager that unifies the entire support, a boardroom that runs Rangers in its best interests, and the arrival of boyhood Rangers man Lawrence Shankland.
Only two weeks ago Rangers fans were dreading the upcoming season with Danny Rohl, and while the ‘give him time ffs’ brigade were out in force, the majority had seen enough.
But the sentiment was ugly. Sure, we’d got Shankland which was a bit better, but Ibrox Noise for one group did not trust Rohl to manage our new striker properly.
We foresaw another wasted year under another slop manager.
What a difference as we fast approach July.
Salzburg saved our bacon by taking Rohl off our hands AND giving us several million for it. Lawrence Shankland has played a world cup match for his country. And Derek McInnes has joined his old striker in Govan.
The manager will actually arrive midweek and formally meet the players on Thursday. Expect a tonne of promotional material from the club from the early sessions.
We just feel so much more like a Rangers we can believe in.
A Rangers-inclined board. A Rangers-minded manager. And at least one quality Rangers man on the squad.
It is only a start, but that’s our point.
You cannot become Rangers fully again and top the table and win the title and be everything overnight. Not even Walter could do that. Close, but not quite.
Plus Rangers still have a god-awful squad which requires an overhaul.
But the bottom line is this is the foundation Rangers build from.
Having the building blocks in place to then grow from.
In simple terms, Rangers have finally planted the right seeds at long last.
Now we watch them grow. Might take weeks. Months. Even years.
But we’ve now got something we can believe in.
