A lot of Rangers fans are wondering at the moment what the slight hold up regarding Derek McInnes’ Ibrox appointment actually is. It is our understanding that it is entirely above board and should not be a concern at all. Put simply, it was nothing more than Danny Rohl trying to sort out his backroom staff with Red Bull Salzburg. That has been sorted now.
Why Rangers Were Waiting
Rangers were waiting 100% on Rohl being confirmed and signed at the Austrian giants with his own choice of men. He was taking staff from Rangers. They all needed to be confirmed and announced fully officially on paperwork before Rangers do the same with Derek McInnes.
Derek McInnes is ready to sign. The agreement is completely in place and he is happy and ready to go. But Rangers needed to get that departure completely sorted out first of all with Danny Rohl, who up till a few hours ago was still technically on Rangers’ payroll.
The Salzburg Paperwork
That signature needed to be done and sorted out with Red Bull Salzburg. His two or three staff members from Rangers’ backroom team needed to join him and have their paperwork resolved as well.
Once all that was cleared up, McInnes would be free to sign and be paraded. He is ready, he is agreed, and it is simply waiting on the green light from events in Austria. Those have now taken place.
No Stumbling Block
There is not much more to it. While certain outlets reported it as a potential stumbling block, the reality is that paperwork can take some time. These are men who had been in Govan for some considerable time and had been settled there for some considerable time.
Consequently, they needed to be uprooted and moved out to Austria alongside their current head coach partner in Rohl.
It Will Happen Soon
Once that was all finalised and ratified, McInnes would be completely free to sign the paperwork and be paraded happily with the Rangers scarf. He will then be proudly unveiled at Auchenhowie or Ibrox. Potentially before the end of Wednesday.
This is simply what we are waiting for. It may take a day or two, and it might even be quicker. It just depends on how quickly the legislation and administration can get done on both sides to get it all resolved.
But there is no panic and nothing really to see here. It will be done when it is done.
