There is no denying that it was a topsy turvy campaign for Rangers fans once again in 2025/26. But having fallen away at the very end of the season into third place in the Scottish Premiership table with a full ten point deficit to top spot, it was always set to be a summer off season of disappointment and frustration once again.
Highlights
There were some highlights and things that could be built on at Ibrox given the work that gaffer Danny Rohl had done since his arrival at the club, but news of a potential departure was quickly followed by it happening and long and often linked Derek McInnes was apparently back in the frame.

Having already signed Lawrence Shankland, the 54 year old former Rangers player and Aberdeen manager was soon appointed and it has turned into quite the busy week at the club and has probably been very enjoyable for those with a UK betting app. We are putting our preparations in place for what everyone hopes is a far better season – and that is certainly what the two capped Scotland midfielder is focused on making happen given all his talk about making us ‘relevant’ again on a domestic front.
McCrorie
As plans now begin to take shape, the transfer window speculation rumour mill suggestions claiming that we were interested in bringing back former player Ross McCrorie, were definitely on the mark.
The 28 year old versatile Scottish international, and our former Academy graduate, departed the club back in 2021 for Aberdeen and he has since moved on to English Championship side Bristol City, however, it has now been confirmed that he will line up in our shirt once again when pre season rolls around as we have already struck a deal with the Ashton Gate outfit to bring him home.
Pricetag
It is believed that we have struck a deal in the region of £1.5 million, and with him now having already completed his medical, he will soon put pen to paper on a three year deal with a further 12 month option in our favour. In terms of a first signing, McCrorie knowing the club inside out, but also knowing McInnes inside out from their time at Aberdeen, the more makes perfect sense from a number of directions and we can only hope we see the benefits of that when the first real game cycles around in the 2026/27 campaign.
McCrorie is simply one of a number of players that we are being linked to so far this summer and it seems that the distraction of the World Cup out in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico is proving no bar at this point to the claims doing the rounds.
Whether there is anything in the suggestions of an interest in the likes of right back Bryan Reynolds, or even talk that 25 year old midfielder Nico Raskin could be on his way out, well, only time will tell on that front – but it certainly seems that McInnes is trying to hit the ground running here so that he can have as much already in place as possible for when the players return to pre season training.
