Ibrox Noise understands that several clubs are interested in the services of Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande. Ibrox Noise understands that Rangers’ position regarding the Ivory Coast international is that he is entirely sellable as long as a good offer comes in. From what we understand, at least one bid is being prepared in the region of around £15M for the midfielder.
A Marketable Asset Despite Mixed Form
Diomande has not exactly shone at Rangers. But for some curious reason, has been known as a valuable asset with a solid financial value above his head. He is a player who is considered relatively expendable. Rangers of course rejected a bid from Besiktas last summer around £10M. This time around that number would be considered. While he has occasionally shown glimpses of his potential talent, overall he is not deemed as anything like value for the £4.5M that Rangers were obliged to pay for him in recent times.
Diomande has proven himself to be a bit of a limp midfielder. He occasionally shows composure on the ball and now and again presents a stronger figure. Relatively speaking, however, he rarely has influence in matches and is also notable for being a liability in disciplinary senses.
Rangers Open To Summer Sale
The former Nordsjælland man came from, of course, the school of talent production from that club. It is famous for bringing in African players at a young age and then selling them on at a significant profit. Diomande was one such player and his Rangers career has not exactly demonstrated the value for money Rangers would have hoped for.
He has been, to quote most fans, moderate.
Rangers are open to selling him this summer and it has been widely regarded that if a decent offer comes in, he will be departing. We understand that there are several clubs, as we say, interested and all of them are significant clubs.
One prominent name surfacing aside Besiktas is Paris FC. Not quite PSG, Paris are PSG’s city rivals and finished 11th in Ligue 1 last season.
Consequently, if Rangers get a bid around £15M, from Paris FC or anyone else, they will be open to selling the Ivory Coast man.
World Cup Omission A Major Blow
Of course, this is a curious development given that he was excluded from the Ivory Coast World Cup squad. This was a very, very sobering experience for the midfielder, who would have expected or hoped to go to the World Cup.
Then, of course, there have been confusions over exactly which country he was going to represent in the first place. Readers may recall his tug of war battle between his birth country and his chosen adopted country. That being Ivory Coast versus Ghana.
He has played for both at youth level and had to make a choice. He went with Ivory Coast.
His omission from the World Cup squad was a huge blow for him. He would have expected to go, but his form this past season just has not been up to scratch.
He has not proven himself good enough.
Time To Move On?
Nevertheless, he still has that curious reputation of being a marketable asset and there are clubs interested in him. Paris FC front-runners for his signature at this point.
Maybe it is time for Rangers and Diomande to go separate ways.
