Ibrox Noise sources understand that Sunderland’s Dan Neil is keen on a move to Rangers. The midfielder, 24, is weighing up his options amid the end of his Ipswich loan. Dan Neil to Rangers update faces a slight issue in his desire to come north.
The engine room man has a quoted market value around £4M. He was a part of Ipswich’s ultimately successful promotion push to the Premier League. He does not, however, expect to be part of the Premier League next season with them. Or indeed parent club Sunderland given he’s out of contract with no sign of a renewal.
It’s been widely reported he will indeed leave the Stadium of Light as a free agent.
The big issue he faces is Ibrox Noise understands Rangers have not approached him on any level or shown any inclination in that direction as yet.
The media interest in his joining Ibrox and Danny Rohl appears agent-driven and indeed player-driven at this point.
Neil ‘likes the idea’ of Rangers, but reports of talks between the club and he are, from our understanding, premature.
Is he one on Rangers’ radar? We’re unclear if the club genuinely is interested in Dan Neil. As yet there’s little evidence to prove it is.
Aside the media stories claiming there are talks, with some Sunderland-based publications running with that, there’s no information we’ve received that said talks have taken place. Dan Neil to Rangers update is pretty clear.
He is an imminent free agent and that’s a good price for many clubs. Unless we hear otherwise, Rangers’ interest is modest at best at this point. Â
