After news broke on Wednesday that Hull City had had a £14M bid rejected for Nico Raskin, the bidding war for the in-demand Belgian international began.
Ibrox Noise understands Rangers have put a £25M pricetag on Raskin, and will only let him go for less with bumper clauses and addons to make up the difference.
Hull City’s bid was regarded as well below the numbers needed. The wider press have claimed the value demanded is around £20M, but Ibrox Noise sources tell us it’s higher.
If Celtic can get £25M for Kieran Tierney, and massive numbers for Kristopher Ajer and others, while Rangers can get £20M+ for Calvin Bassey, it is deemed £25M is a fair sum for Raskin.
Raskin is of course a regular for his country and has made two appearances at the world cup. They have most definitely increased his value and Rangers won’t settle for less than he is worth.
And with Hull City trying for £14M, Rangers threw that offer out pretty hard.
Raskin himself wants the Premier League. Newly-promoted Hull can provide that but he set his sights on one of the top clubs. He’ll believe his world cup can earn that.
But end of the day Rangers won’t accept a ‘lowball’ bid.
Hull have started the bidding, but other clubs will now make their move.
The chance of Raskin remaining a Rangers player after this summer is zero.
But the right offer has to arrive first.
