Ibrox Noise understands that the reported interest from Atalanta in Rangers’ Nico Raskin is real. Just as Florian Plettenberg reported about Red Bull Salzburg’s interest in Danny Rohl, Gianluca Di Marzio, a confirmed Sky Italia journalist with 2M followers, has confirmed Atalanta’s interest in the Belgian international. Naturally, interest in him rose after last night’s performance against Egypt. The Rangers midfielder came off as a second half substitute and impressed everyone with a decent performance, albeit sitting a little deeper than he would have liked. His rare forays into the Egypt half, however, yielded some impressive reviews, and it was a promising World Cup debut for the former Standard Liege man.

Atalanta interest is genuine

Moreover, in terms of Atalanta’s interest, they are a very big Italian side. They are a Serie A giant who have risen from the modest levels of Italy’s top flight in the prior 20 years to a much stronger prospect in the past decade. Atalanta are now widely considered one of the top six teams in Italy at present. They fell a little short last season, managing only a Conference league spot in 7th. But they are a regular Champions League side these days.

And so Rangers would be looking at a fee of around £25M for Raskin. With Rangers in no desperate need to sell the abundant clarity is that Raskin does want to leave. And Rangers are entirely open to that sale. He has indeed been clear categorically that he would only leave Rangers for a top five league.

This is the information that has been received through his family members, to get a top five league in Europe. Of course, Atalanta, as a high flying Italian side from Serie A, would very much qualify as exactly that.

The move Raskin wants

Fundamentally this would be the kind of move that Raskin is looking for. Rangers would be very content with £25M for his signature. That would be that as far as the potential transfer goes.

Consequently, the Raskin saga regarding his position at Rangers is potentially set to come to a reasonably imminent end if Atalanta step that interest up.

Transfer window now open

Rangers, like everybody else, have now benefited from the opening of the summer transfer window. It opened its doors on June 15 at 5pm.

All registrations are now free to go and all signings and work in the transfer window can now be done. This is where it all truly and properly begins, and we can see registrations and bids freely taking place.

Atalanta ready to bid

Atalanta have made their move regarding Raskin and are ready to bid big money for his services. As we say, Rangers would be looking for £25M for his departure to Italy, or indeed anywhere else.

He is regarded now as a high value asset and there is no way Rangers will sell for a low amount.
