Naturally these are unconfirmed reports at this stage and no one has definitively verified them but hot on the heels of chairman Andrew Cavenagh throwing his full weight behind Danny Rohl there have been major allegations that the squad organised a leaving do at Auchenhowie for James Tavernier and Rohl was deliberately excluded.
One or two modestly respectable outlets have run with this story, one we cannot back up, but it would not surprise us one bit if the squad did indeed reject Rohl’s presence for such an occasion.
Of course, equally Rohl and Tavernier do not see eye-to-eye. Ibrox Noise reported that months ago. And that was a big part of Rohl’s call to leave Tavernier on the bench.
Pettiness? You decide.
But the notion there’s been a leaving do at Rangers’ Training Ground and the squad systematically ensured the manager wasn’t present says a lot about his standing with the squad. If that story/rumour is true.
It is one that seems logical. Tav and Rohl have no time for each other (much like many of the players in the squad regarding Rohl) and Rohl’s presence there would have been antagonistic.
Tav sees Rohl as the reason his leaving night ended in such ignominy.
Rangers fans to a man woman and child pretty much sided with Tavernier on this one, whatever their personal feelings on him were.

And as such Rohl being there for the lad’s leaving do to say goodbye to the squad properly would have gone down very poorly.
It does also point at the toxic atmosphere under Rohl now with a squad that isn’t playing for him.
The squad is not going to run through a brick wall, that’s for sure. Not any more, if it ever did.
These unconfirmed reports are just the latest episode in an ugly turn in the Rohl era.
One which seems set to rohl on.
