It appears officially official now, that trusted journo Ben Jacob’s exclusive regarding Josh Windass and a move to Rangers was false information.
The well-respected journo, who operates with Talksport, has a large following and a great amount of respect in the industry, and even the best get it wrong.
Exclusive: Rangers have made a fresh approach to Josh Windass to discuss bringing him back to Ibrox.

It follows an attempt in January which Wrexham rebuffed.

It is known that Rangers manager Danny Rohl is a big Windass admirer and the story seemed extremely plausible, but Rangers Review’s Chris Jack appears to have been correct in suggesting the story had no legs. Meaning trusted journo wrong.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson addressed the story:
“There was no contact in January for Josh, not officially. Josh is our player, he had a good season and we are looking forward to him building on that next year. We are looking to add to the quality we have got, not lose it
”I think we would be disappointed if there wasn’t some interest in our players. It is inevitable but we have got the key players we want on long contracts and we are in a good position on that front.
“We are looking to build on what we did last year and improve the squad to make us really competitive again.”
And Windass himself said on Talksport:
“Yeah, I signed a three-year deal in the summer. I feel like I had a really good year this year and yeah, hopefully next year we can go one better.”
So there’s an issue here.
Windass directly told Talksport he wasn’t interested in leaving. Yet one of their bigwigs said Rangers have made moves to try to sign him.
It has been further dispelled by various media outlets who suggest their sources have confirmed the same thing. That Rangers have NOT made a move for Windass and aren’t interested in doing so.
We’re definitely not having a go at Jacobs. We know ourselves at Ibrox Noise what fools we end up looking when trusting wrong information. It’s always the outlet or reporter that looks silly not the source. But that information is always given in good faith, and that’s the game of what we all do. Sometimes that info is just wrong. Que sera. Trusted journo wrong? Shock horror!
It’s a very strange story, but we can all sleep easy that the madhouses that are the Windass family will not be coming back to Ibrox any time soon it appears.
