Well, where does Ibrox Noise begin with the chaos that has engulfed our club in the last few days? Indeed, the chaos that has engulfed the Rangers has been going on for quite some time, but many Rangers supporters wanted to believe otherwise. Last night’s episode, as we know, involved James Tavernier and the absolute chaos of his exit. That is to say, his absence from the matchday squad. This was seen as an absolute shock given it was to be his send off. Without any doubt, Danny Rohl came under gigantic fire, rightly so, for Tavernier’s absence because Danny Rohl is quite literally the most toxic manager Rangers have ever had, and incredibly, we include Russell Martin in this. Tav & Rohl bust up a big part of it.
Medical Contradictions
Rohl claims he received a call from the medical centre, from the medical people at Auchenhowie, saying that Tavernier would not be available. This is an outright lie because all the medical does is offer the information about a player’s injury. They do not dictate whether or not a player is available.
The medical job, the job of the medical, is to inform the manager of the player’s injury and situation. They do not tell the manager who is not available for selection. Indeed, Rohl contradicted himself wildly by confirming that that is the sort of decision that he makes. He confirmed that he is the manager and he decides who plays.
Tavernier clearly had some kind of small knock, something that had apparently required an injection or would be requiring an injection, but he is a 34 year old man on his last Ibrox appearance. As much as Ibrox Noise has misgivings about James Tavernier and always has, he certainly deserved his proper send off in the shirt leading the team out.
He may only have lasted for 10 minutes, but he could at least have had his moment. Instead, Rohl took that from him.
Lee Wallace Comparisons
Admittedly, the club also did the same back in the day with Lee Wallace. We are sure that we all remember how he was cast out despite giving everything. Eventually, at least Steven Gerrard did bring him on for a rousing reception as a sub later on, so he did get to say goodbye.
Tavernier did not even get that honour. He was given a suit, a shield and a little hug on the pitch, and that was really about it. He did not get to have one last run out or lead the team.
This really was absolutely diabolical conduct from Danny Rohl. When we are siding with Tavernier on this site, you know it is pretty bad.
The Tavernier Fallout
This was a shocking choice that Rohl simply made because he does not like James Tavernier. As we revealed to you in earlier entries, Danny Rohl and James Tavernier do not get on.
We have discussed before how Tavernier wanted a new deal, but Rohl blocked it. Rohl does not want James Tavernier at his club and has not wanted him for quite some time. Consequently, that came to a bubbling fore when he was given medical information that Tavernier had an injury.
Of course, at this point, we are only going on Rohl’s word for that, and that has not been a terribly reliable barometer of truth recently. However, the simple fact of the matter is that fans have had enough of this German manager.
Danny Rohl has gone completely and totally Russell Martin territory, but even worse, by picking on James Tavernier and not giving him a starting jersey.
Dressing Room Collapse
Now, of course, Tavernier himself was being a little petty by walking out. From what we understand, he was named on the bench and stomped out in a huff. So at the same time as we are defending Tavernier and taking his side, we completely acknowledge that he too had his part to play in this. His pettiness was clearly part of the problem.
But he deserved to lead the team out. We are sorry, but after 11 years, he deserved to lead the team out. Even if he had not been captain on his final appearance at Ibrox, whoever had been leaving after 11 years would have deserved to wear the armband and lead the team out, even if they did not last a terribly long time on the pitch due to injury.
Rohl Denial
For Rohl to deny him that is astonishing. Ibrox Noise cannot quite believe that even Rohl would do that. It was poor.
He has absolutely lost the dressing room beyond all words. These players do not like him and do not play for him. That has been abundant for quite some time. But Rangers’ results over the split have been even worse than Ibrox Noise projected.
We will get to that in due course, but for now, while we are not exactly all the way behind James Tavernier, we are definitely far more hesitant than we are on Rohl for Tav & Rohl bust up. Good Lord.
