We were very interested in what Super Ally McCoist had to say about Danny Rohl this morning. That is, Rangers’ legendary former striker and manager had a few comments on Rangers’ situation following the end of 56 at Tynecastle.
Super always has Rangers’ best interests at heart. He gave Russell Martin his backing, and has done the same with Danny Rohl. But he is no fool, and indirectly called both of them out on his radio gig.
In essence, Ally criticised Rangers’ XI saying it had absolutely no Scots in it. Hearts’ starting side had five.
He saw grit, power, pace, workrate and a desire to win from the home side.
He saw mercenaries picking up a paycheque on the visitors’ roster.
He’s utterly bang on.
Rangers fans would be the first to say the hardest working Rangers player hasn’t even been given a sniff by Danny Rohl. Connor Barron.
John Souttar was in favour, but he was having a bad season. Probably due to the garbage around him in all fairness.
But Ally, as always, called it out fair.
If Rangers go foreign only, you’ve got a lack of passion, drive, and Rangers’ graft in there.
Ally always played in sides which were filled with Scots. He won in sides filled with his countrymen.
And of course the main man at the helm was the late, Great Walter Smith.
Foreigners
This is not to slag off foreigners, but we’re sorry, Nasser Djiga and Youssef Chermiti do not know what Rangers mean compared with, say, Craig Halkett and Lawrence Shankland.
Yes, Hearts stalwarts are our own, and the heart of them is bigger than anything Rangers have.
Danny Rohl just made sure he did the same as all his predecessors – avoided Scottish talent.
And now look at our foreign, mercenary rubbish that doesn’t work, doesn’t dig.
And we would include the manager in this.
Rangers are a complete mess with no Scottish identity, never mind a Rangers one.
And Super Ally McCoist is absolutely right to call that out.
