Findlay Curtis yesterday wrote himself into folklore with a staggering Scotland debut which proved categorically that the now former Kilmarnock loanee is ready to shine for Rangers.
We all know already, of course, that the Rangers playmaker and rising star is going to the World Cup with Scotland in a surprise call that Steve Clarke clearly got absolutely bang on.
A Stunning Hampden Cameo
But his cameo at Hampden showed just what Rangers and indeed Scotland may actually have with the youngster.
We are well aware that the major Danny Rohl fans are playing this one off as a masterstroke from the manager.
They allege that he got it absolutely correct to put him out and get minutes into him to develop him.
We do feel those minutes and development would be better served scoring goals for Rangers and potentially winning us the title.
But that is, we guess, a story for another day and maybe is logical to these individuals.
However, the point is that Curtis is shining and has proven so again at Hampden with the national side.
Only three seconds into his debut, he scored a brilliant, brilliant goal. Then of course he won a penalty.
Proving The Doubters Wrong
He has certainly proven Ibrox Noise’s concerns about him entirely unfounded.
We did not believe that he was necessarily as impressive as his early Rangers cameos made him look.
We did not believe him to be a poor player, but we did not object to him going out on loan.
But it seems we got it wildly wrong.
We can hold our hands up. Ibrox Noise will not say anything that claims that we, in actual fact, were pulling off a masterstroke by suggesting he go out on loan.
We just thought he was not good enough, and clearly so did Danny Rohl. You do not send out your best players on loan, no matter what age they are.
Mikey Moore was only 18 at Rangers and shining like a beacon, certainly in the calendar year of 2026.
Yet, according to some Rangers fans, this is a wise move had he been our own player, to send him out to another team to get those development minutes at that age.
What absolute nonsense.
The Loan Debate
We are supposed to have our own players developed for ourselves at our own club.
If they are good enough, they will play, and Curtis clearly is.
His value will have skyrocketed.
That goal against Curacao, plus his winning penalty, have rocketed his value to extremely high levels, even though it was only a friendly.
Because bear in mind this was a friendly but against a fellow World Cup team.
Doing this at this level is now significant.
If Curtis plays fully in this World Cup and scores again and or assists and still shines, we are looking at serious value on our hands for a young player that we have developed.
A Bright Future At Ibrox
Ibrox Noise puts its hands up. We clearly got this lad wrong.
He is a talent and deserves to play for Rangers. Rohl also did. He got it wrong too. Simple as that.
Kilmarnock was not where he needed to be with his talents. His best place to be last season was at Ibrox and playing. But boy did Killie and Neil McCann get the most from him.
But that is meant to be the manager’s job, to identify this stuff. As for Curtis himself, we are thrilled with his progress.
We will see how he does at the World Cup and next season for Rangers.
But we fully expect to see a big role for the youngster at Ibrox after a staggering Scotland debut and potentially him becoming an absolute prized asset.
