Obviously, we do not all live under a rock and naturally we are aware of the incidents at Parkhead. Celtic were gifted the league in short. They got a great number of refereeing decisions which favoured them and Rangers fans have of course melted along with the Hearts fans in rage over how the league transpired.
The Penalty Debate
In reality, as we have actually alluded to, there is a lot of discrepancy over that penalty at Motherwell, but what is not being mentioned is the clear penalty that Maeda was denied earlier in the same match.
There has been a lot of conspiracy about John Beaton being a Tim but in reality, he was working too hard to try to correct a wrong decision earlier involving the Japanese striker Maeda.
This is why he only took one look. He saw a chance to even it up because Maeda should have had a penalty prior. It was the wrong way to go about it, of course, but ultimately Celtic did warrant a penalty earlier and he has evened it up in a very crude and poor manner.
Pitch Invasions And Disorder
This has, of course, led to outrage and melting. However, the fan reaction when Celtic received the championship title, and we will have a word or two on Hearts about all of this, but the reaction from Celtic fans was abhorrent.
First they swarmed the pitch before the full time whistle had even blown and attacked the opposing players. This left Hearts vulnerable and having to escape the pitch. Just as the Rangers staff did in the Old Firm match as well.
But then they followed that up with a complete rammy in Trongate in Glasgow by smashing the place up. And each other. This has gone to the police. There have been arrests made and there will be a deeper investigation on this one.
Conduct Beyond Toxic
We know that Rangers fans did not conduct themselves terribly well in George Square during 55 either. But that was more antisocial. It was not pure destruction. Nor was it fighting each other. It was not the conduct that the Celtic fans carried out by trying to basically maim Hearts players. Not to mention slaughtering each other.
Their conduct was absolutely abhorrent for a team that had just ‘won’ the league. We will have discussion on the implications of all of this, but their conduct was predictable.
This is how Celtic fans tend to react to either adversity or success, whether merited or otherwise. They just smash things up. They break things and the justice is that they will face the full extent of the law.
The Greatest Fans In The World?
Celtic lost complete control of their fans and they did not do anything to apologise or sort that out. There was nothing, but then what would there be?
Either way, they have absolutely disgraced Scotland and themselves yet again. Every single time anything occurs with Celtic fans, it is very rarely, if ever, even remotely passable, never mind good.
They used to call themselves the greatest fans in the world. This was back in the days of Seville when in all fairness they did conduct themselves fairly well.
But post that era, they have been absolutely and utterly diabolical and since 2012, well, it has gone beyond toxic, has it not?
But there you go, the greatest fans in the world, apparently.
