Rohl’s Rangers comments are doing him absolutely no favours right now

There’s no two ways about the reality that Danny Rohl’s Rangers time is collapsing.

The former Sheffield Wednesday boss, seemingly disliked by his former fans, has descended into Russell Martin and Philippe Clement territory.

That is, that fan sentiment has now turned on him, and his comments in the press do him absolutely no favours at all.

From rejecting Scottish players, to blaming his current players, to claiming Rangers’ loss wasn’t down to mentality, Rohl has been missing the mark badly lately.

And he doesn’t have results on the pitch to back him up.

And when the fans start to see the comments in the press matching the deteriorating displays and results, the game tends to be up.

It’s the same territory Clement, Beale and Martin ended up in when their regimes completely derailed, and unfortunately for Rohl, his never really got started in the first place.

18 wins of 27 is not horrific but it’s considerably short of what Rangers need, and this calendar year it’s 50%-win ratio in the league.

Crucially, he’s blown the big opportunities when they’ve presented themselves.

The Split saw Rangers, Hearts and Celtic split by just 3 points. Now Rangers are 7 behind having lost both split matches thus far.

And much of those failures are on an out-of-his-depth boss who makes bad decisions.

Yes, the players are part of the issue, but are we really saying Rangers’ squad is as bad as it currently looks?

We refuse to entertain that a Belgian international, a former England one, and Scotland’s YPOTY are as awful as Rohl’s results suggest that they are.

It’s come undone for Rohl, and when the fans start to turn on you, there’s really nowhere else it can go.
