Ibrox Noise understands that Nicolas Raskin will not play again under Danny Rohl following a massive bust up between the two midweek. While Danny Rohl made a claim about injury to his symbolic captain, in reality, Rohl ditches Nico Raskin over comments made in the press by both of them in the build up to this match.
Raskin and Rohl clash over mentality comments
The initial disagreement was regarding the comments over Rohl’s assertion that this was not a mentality issue in the event of losing to Hearts. Unfortunately for him, his chosen captain, Nicolas Raskin, elected to suggest otherwise and said that it was a mentality issue. Something that did not go down too well with Rohl behind closed doors, that his own captain was undermining his own comments.
Midfield comments infuriated Rangers players
However, furthermore, in the build up to the Old Firm match, Rohl made a claim that has completely infuriated Raskin and indeed his other midfielders.
Rohl called them lazy.
He claimed that the midfielders were not doing what he had told them and that it did not matter what his tactics were because if the players were going to be too lazy and not follow them then he was helpless.
These claims did not go down well at all with Raskin.
Not just the slur on his own work rate, but the fact that the energiser bunny that is Connor Barron was left on the bench by that manager.
The manager claimed that the players were being lazy.
If that was the case, why did he not fix it with the biggest energy ball he had on the bench?
Captaincy hopes now appear over
Consequently, the two of them, just like Raskin did with Barry Ferguson and Russell Martin and Ronny Deila at Standard Liège before him, had a coming together and have now fallen out.
The chances of Raskin being captain next season under Danny Rohl are borderline zero.
This was Rohl’s misguided choice as new captain, something that Ibrox Noise rather objected to, but nevertheless, the simple fact is that this little disagreement in public has completely undermined any possibility of Rohl choosing Raskin as captain.
Pressure grows on the Rangers manager
Of course, as we all know, Rohl’s own approval rating is now painfully low following a dismal result at Parkhead.
But having fallen out with Raskin, that certainly will not help his case one bit.
Things are not all well at Ibrox as Rohl ditches Nico Raskin.
