Better late than never are the words ringing around Rangers circles with the recent accelerated revelation that Lawrence Shankland is signing for the famous. This is a signing Ibrox Noise has been advocating for the best part of five years. In all fairness, we also wanted Andreas Skov Olsen for a similar amount of time and that one did not work out too well, but we are pretty sure that most Rangers fans will agree that this is a signing that has been destined in the stars for as long as man has existed and roamed the earth.
A Rangers Man Through And Through
In simple terms, Shankland is an absolute Rangers man who has dreamed of this move for as long as he can remember. He is a Rangers man through and through. He can score, he can lead, and he has absolutely craved this wish to govern for basically his entire career.
Rangers did bid for him some seasons ago, but it was a very lowball bid which did not happen and was well below Hearts’ own greedy valuation of a man who was at the end of his contract.
Consequently, this one has accelerated fast. It came out rather out of nowhere with Rangers fans reeling from the information only last night, and the word is that Shankland has quit his holiday temporarily and prematurely in order to come home and sign this deal.
This was never one he was ever going to let go. Maybe he will return to his missus on holiday after a day or so, but either way, this is a signing that Rangers have been needing to make forever.
We have, in 100%, been behind this signing for so long that we got bored of repeating it. For it to finally be happening would be the first absolute feather that we can doff to Danny Rohl.
Danny Rohl Finally Gets It
As you all know, Ibrox Noise has never been the world’s biggest fan group of our German manager. We have indeed been heavily critical and wanting him gone for quite some time.
His performance during the split was diabolical, and the whole meltdown during that period was a stain on Rangers’ heritage. We also were underwhelmed, to say the least, with his addition in the first place.
However, his wanting Lawrence Shankland is a game changer. For us, that will 100% soften our stance on Danny Rohl, if our manager is indeed advocating his arrival.
He wanted more leaders, he wanted Rangers, and he wanted Scottish. He is going to get all three with Shankland. That is the first wise move he has made in the transfer window.
Admittedly, Tuur Rommens worked out pretty well, but the other three were a complete shambles.
The Move Was Written In The Stars
Shankland, however, while no longer quite at his peak, was clearly and justifiably nominated for Player of the Year last season. He has already won it in previous campaigns.
He is a marquee quality player who has been destined for this move forever. And Rohl, finally, at long last, is starting to get what Rangers is and what we need.
We need Rangers men, we need winners, and we need players who know what this shirt is all about.
This is a boyhood Rangers fan who has dreamed from his very first breaths of putting on the shirt. For playing for the famous, and now he is going to get that dream.
He is going to get what he has been waiting for for so long. Maybe not quite as long as Prince Charles waited to become king, in all fairness, but still a very long time.
It has been written in the stars forever that Shankland would do this one day and would get his move to Rangers. From what we understand, it is a free transfer as well.
Why The Deal Finally Happened
The new contract that he signed last summer was not for three years, but for one. Basically, it was one with an option for another two.
He was hoping to get this move at some point, and he left his options open.
