Ibrox Noise has obviously been aware of all of the events of recent times involving Danny Rohl, Andrew Cavenagh, and the general malaise of our club at present as Rangers poll reveals truth of Ibrox fan view on Danny Rohl.
The big breaking story, of course, in the past 24 to 48 hours was Callum Bell’s comments regarding Danny Rohl’s confrontation with Andrew Cavenagh, yet another topic that has split Rangers fans down the middle.
Fundamentally, whatever theories are being offered, whether by Keith Jackson or anybody else, we are currently left with a factual statement that Andrew Cavenagh has backed Rohl for next season.
Whether or not this is how things materialise, time will tell, but for now the chairman has stated publicly that Rohl has his backing and will be the manager going into next season.
Rangers fans split on Danny Rohl
However, Ibrox Noise wanted to know how fans felt about that. Did they fundamentally still back him, or have they had enough?
Do they agree with Cavenagh’s backing or not?
Because of course, as we saw recently, fan sentiment and goodwill towards Rohl has collapsed completely.
That is to say, the fans’ goodwill, which was at least 91%, as Ibrox Noise reported only a month ago, has crashed completely after Celtic and then similarly after the Tavernier incident, and only 6% at that point wanted to keep him as manager.
Consequently, with the dust having settled and time having slowly moved on, we wanted to know how exactly you all felt now about Rohl and whether you agreed with Cavenagh’s conclusion.
Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, depending on your point of view, Rangers fans are quite split about this one.
By no means is it a massive endorsement of Danny Rohl all of a sudden, but favour has slowly eked towards him again, and an Ibrox Noise poll revealed the fan favour in terms of backing him compared with sacking him now seems to be around 60%.
40% do not back Rohl and want him gone. 60% back the chairman’s decision. Sample size of 1,000 and growing.
Fans reluctantly backing the chairman
This is not to say that those fans back Danny Rohl outright, but it does suggest that they are accepting that the chairman has made his decision and that there is nothing that they can do about it.
Of course, at the same time, one is allowed to have one’s own opinion or disagree with that decision.
But as we know in the past, once the club makes a decision or apparently seems to, Rangers fans fall in line and often just back it no matter what.
Instead of protesting, they tend to say ‘fair enough’, and they get on with backing that.
Ibrox Noise does not subscribe to this and never did. We will never back something that we know is a mistake or is wrong.
Whether or not Cavenagh is manipulating the media and trying to get a better deal and get Rohl out by getting compensation from another club is neither here nor there for now.
For now, Rohl is the manager and there is nothing that is necessarily on the horizon to change that.
Ibrox Noise still not convinced
And we are not backing it. Sorry, but we are not.
Just like we did not back Russell Martin. Not from the start, not throughout, until of course the very bitter end when all fans were shouting ‘Martin GTF’.
We are exactly the same here. Rohl does not have our backing. Sorry!
Just because we are Rangers supporters does not mean we will blindly agree with the stupid decisions that our club makes or appears to make anyway.
But the fans en masse do not necessarily agree with us, and that is okay.
That’s 60% in favour of backing Rohl now, but as we say, that could be reluctance.
It could be a reluctant acceptance of what the club has decided.
That is not something that Ibrox Noise will ever do. We will not follow on from a bad decision and just back it because we have no choice.
But if the masses want to do that, that is up to them, and we are not going to impress our view on them.
But that is the outcome of the vote. Rangers poll reveals truth. Rangers fans, for the majority, are now accepting and backing Danny Rohl.
It does not get much more depressing than that.
