Rangers fans are learning the truth about Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday

Naturally, it is very difficult to have 20/20 vision at the time but Rangers fans are learning the truth about Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday.

Hindsight is, of course, 20/20, and while Ibrox Noise did call out the appointment of Danny Rohl as manager, even we cannot see absolutely the full picture.

We cannot cover every single branch and every single tranche of the whole situation.

And in this case, it is the view and opinion that Sheffield Wednesday fans had of Danny Rohl.

We possibly covered this one in a previous entry, but we will go into this situation in greater depth.

Wednesday Fans Turned Against Rohl

A Sheffield Wednesday fan account discussed how Rohl may be coming available.

He asked his followers what they thought of the potential of him returning to Wednesday, becoming the Owls boss again.

It is safe to say that not a single fan response in this post endorsed the idea.

In fact, quite the opposite.

Rohl was being called a snake, a traitor, a charlatan and toxic.

Pretty much all the same kind of terms that all Russell Martin’s ex club fans used to use about him.

It is hard to see all of this stuff at the time.

Hence why when things start to change, there is also a change in mindset, and you start to research and dig into the past properly to get the full, real picture.

Southampton Pursuit and Exit

Rohl hawked himself around other clubs during his time at Wednesday, particularly trying to get a gig at Southampton.

He also mutually consented and snaked his way out of Wednesday when, quite frankly, they still needed a boss.

Yes, he did keep them up.

He managed to save them.

That is the one tick on his resume.

We will give him that.

But his fans cannot stand his character.

The Wednesday fans wanted no part of him potentially coming back, all ignominiously describing his exit as truly toxic and completely self serving.

Yes, indeed, something that Ibrox Noise has noted about Rohl in the past six months especially is just how self serving he has been.

Questions Over Character

We noted his comments about his family, how he basically dismissed them as second choice importance to his own career, how they would just have to deal with his not being around most of the year.

He did not seem particularly regretful, even although the headline itself spun the story as a sacrifice, but he himself did not word it in that way.

Consequently, he does sound like he is rather immature and puts his own interests above that even of his family.

We understand the importance of a manager’s career.

We do get that they want to achieve as much as they can, but family always comes first.

Consequently, Wednesday fans’ views of Rohl may not be entirely inaccurate, and we are now seeing that with the fallout of how the split has completely unravelled.

Approval Rating Collapse

Danny Rohl is now a completely poisoned chalice as Rangers fans are learning the truth about Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday.

He will be fine back in Germany.

They still curiously hold him in high regard.

They will not dig into the full character assassination that is now taking place of him due to his own actions.

But it is abundantly clear that his one ex club now hold him in the same kind of ignominy that Rangers fans do.

Only two weeks ago, Danny Rohl had a 90% approval rating.

He now has as good as a 0% approval rating.

Only 6% of fans backed him over James Tavernier.

It is abundantly clear he has lost the dressing room and fan favour to a level that we do not think we have ever seen from a Rangers manager before.

Even Philippe Clement in 2024, with his 91% approval rating, only crashed to around 18%.

That was still abysmal, but not as bad as this.

Rohl is completely toxic.

He is entirely damaged goods now in the eyes of Rangers fans.

And we could have seen it coming if we had looked more deeply into what Sheffield Wednesday fans think of him.

All Rangers fans saw was he saved them from relegation.

They did not see anything else beyond that. Rangers fans are learning though.

But at the end of the day, it is now looking abundantly clear that he is damaged goods and ready to move on.
