Abysmal Rangers flop Danilo, in case you didn’t know, was rejected by NEC on loan and they didn’t bother to make his deal permanent. This means Rangers are stuck again with him.
His quotes from his time there were as bad as Ianis Hagi’s at Alaves:
“Yes. I feel that it is the league in which I can be most successful and in which I can bring out all my qualities and it is the league that I have followed since I was a child and it was always my dream to be here. I’m here now and I want to be here for a long time. Yes, it is where I want to be. It is the football in which I want to grow, it is the football that I believe can unlock the best version of me. I’ve only been here 6-7 months and I already feel like I’m a better player, I’m growing every day, in training and in games. I see progression every day and I believe that in the near future my best qualities will be unlocked and I will show everyone who I am.”
Hagi on staying in Spain with Alaves. As history told, he failed miserably.
Alas for Danilo, his quotes at NEC were as bad:
“We’ll see if that (permanent signing) happens. It’ll take some time, and I’ve only just arrived.
“I first have to show what I can do and convince the club to exercise that option. Hopefully, we have some exciting months ahead of us.
“Every player wants to be in the starting line up and be important. I also came here to give it my all and play as much as possible, but the coach decides.
“I can only train hard to show him what I can do. I’m quite happy to have played so many minutes already. I don’t know yet if I’ll start against Ajax (tonight), but the coach will see that I’m ready. Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to show myself.”
And he failed miserably like Hagi did, just two goals and assists in 12 appearances, just one start.
NEC rejected him pretty fast and he’s a Rangers player again.
And now he’s at it again, bigging up another possibility in returning to his homeland.
“It would be an honour for me. I was born in Itaquera, there is no escaping that: Corinthians is in your blood. My whole family are fanatical supporters.”
Clearly his Rangers career is done, but the problem here is he’s on £40,000 a week and he shows absolutely no interest in sacrificing that cash. We don’t completely blame him – Michael Beale was dumb enough to offer him that and who’s not going to take it?
The bigger problems? He still has two sodding years left on his contract. His injury history is horrible. And he has repeatedly ‘smeared’ Rangers by bigging up an exit. This isn’t exactly terribly professional.
Danilo’s Da gave more to Rangers than his waster son did. And we’ve been told off by hipster Rangers fans for calling Danilo a waster. What would you call him? Rangers are stuck again with him.
Anyway, he’s a big headache, and Rangers are really struggling to offload him to anyone who would meet his wage needs. Just ideal.
