It’s that time of the season where things are winding down and we’re all looking ahead to next campaign, but Rangers fans will certainly be intrigued by Whoscored’s Player of the Season. Manny Fernandez wins Whoscored’s Rangers’ Player of the Season award!
Like Sofascore, Whoscored are a well-respected metrics and data site, albeit they’ve been around longer than the former.
And like Sofascore, Ibrox Noise can now reveal Whoscored’s Rangers Player of the Year and the SPFL Player of the Year.
The SPFL Player of the Year going by Whoscored is: Hearts’ Harry Milne. His rating is the highest of the lot at a healthy 7.42.
And Rangers’ Player of the Year? Second ONLY to Milne in the same list is Emmanuel Fernandez.
That’s right, Manny Fernandez not only got into the SPFA’s Team of the Season, and EA’s Team of the Season for the rest of Europe, but Whoscored backs that up.
He scores 7.38.
But for Milne, Manny Fernandez would be the top man in Whoscored, period.
There’s a lot to chew through here.
Fernandez wasn’t even in the reckoning for SPFL Player of the Year. Wasn’t in the final four shortlist.
He also wasn’t voted by Rangers’ own players as the club’s Player of the Year. That went to Jack Butland.
But the players in the SPL voted him in their team, EA included him too, and now Whoscored have added to that. Not to mention the fans voting him POTS.
Sofascore, as we mentioned earlier, omitted him entirely.
Ibrox Noise are torn on Manny. We see a struggling defender, who has made many errors, and who had been worse than mediocre until Scotty Fry aimed a few free kicks at him and he got a goal or two.
We’re not going near the media machine and the Barry Fry stuff.
But Whoscored does know what it’s talking about as Manny Fernandez wins Whoscored’s award.
Here’s the full list:

As you can see, Tavernier and Raskin are there too. Hard to argue with the numbers. And curiously, not a single Celtic player in sight. It’s just Hearts, Rangers and Hibs. That’s right, no sign of Motherwell either.
So how seriously we can take this list is beyond us.
But Sofascore sure backs Tav and Raskin up.
Lies, damn lies and statistics?
