Former Rangers youth product and utter success in the world of football that is Lewis Ferguson has officially ruled out any move to Rangers after his agent confirmed his career projections. Bill McMurdo, a very famous football agent, of course, and father of well known writer Bill McMurdo Jr, revealed to an Italian source that his client 100% does have his eyes on a move out of Bologna, although he is happy to stay if the deal can be made to give him more minutes. However, it was the further point that Ferguson would only leave Bologna for a top five league and has no interest in anything below that. Lewis Ferguson ‘rules out’ Rangers move.
Ferguson eyes elite move
McMurdo explained that his client has every intention of furthering his career, of going to a higher level, of continuing to progress. Why Bologna have essentially sidelined and ditched him, we’re not sure. We do not know of any fallout there. It just seems like Ferguson has run out of favour at that club.
Even although he has been captain and has delivered so many times for them, he just is not in favour anymore for some reason. But this definitively rules out any move to Rangers.
Rangers priced out
First of all, he would cost a lot of money. Lewis Ferguson’s market value is around £25M these days. He would not come cheap and Bologna would not sell for much below that.
There are, of course, notions of Internazionale making a move for him and they have a strong budget. The figure was suggested last summer at being around about the £30M mark.
However, no matter what, even if Rangers did have the cash, aside the potential of pulling on the boy’s heartstrings, we do not think there is any chance whatsoever that Rangers will ever be able to secure Lewis Ferguson.
Rangers missed their chance
We missed that boat very badly when letting him go from Aberdeen to Bologna instead of making the signature ourselves. Of course, snobby Rangers fans back then alleged that he was nowhere near the level required for Rangers.
We suggest they are probably aware of how foolish that comment was back in time. Nevertheless, the future looks bright for Ferguson, assuming he gets a move that is good for him.
But the chance of it being Rangers is pretty much Lewis Ferguson ‘rules out’.
