Talksport’s Ben Jacobs and the Rangers Review’s Chris Jack have disagreed on Rangers’ interest in Josh Windass.
Jacobs broke Rangers and Danny Rohl’s purported interest in the Wrexham playmaker, only for Jack to suggest he found there was nothing to the story.
So who is likely to be correct here?
Well Jack’s track record is mixed. He was completely in the dark about the takeover, and only learned of it after it broke, while he also got blindsided entirely by the Shankland exclusive.
In short, Jack does not know everything that is going on, nor can he definitively say what isn’t going on. In his defence, his own admission does not state categorically that it’s fiction, only that he received ‘very little encouragement on this’ and does not believe it to be true.
Meanwhile Jacobs, who originally told of this story, has a huge following on Twitter (around 800,000), a massively credible CV and is well-regarded.
Exclusive: Rangers have made a fresh approach to Josh Windass to discuss bringing him back to Ibrox.

It follows an attempt in January which Wrexham rebuffed.
Move driven by Danny Rohl, who had Windass at Sheffield Wednesday.
No club-to-club talks yet. Wrexham had indicated in… pic.twitter.com/ryy7hyBKoq
Furthermore, Jacobs’ wording was clear – Rangers have directly approached Windass, driven by Danny Rohl. No direct club-to-club talks yet. We’re not sure Jack has a direct line to Windass. And we know Rangers pick and choose what info they give and to whom.
Does Jack have direct access to Rohl? Maybe.
Either way, the two journos are not in alignment on this one.
Ibrox Noise would of course prefer Jack to be correct here, that Rangers really aren’t interested in Windass.
He was divisive when he was younger, and he’d be divisive again.
He also just isn’t that great overall, even if he’s done decently in the Championship
But end of the day, you either believe Jacobs or Jack.
Really up to you!
