We’re sure it’ll be spun self-servingly, but Findlay Curtis’ rise from Rangers reject to Scotland international and going to the world cup just shows how dire Danny Rohl’s judgement is.
Danny Rohl effectively picked the hapless Thelo Aasgaard as his main playmaker, choosing him over the lad going to the world cup.
And as we can tell, that one worked out well.
Rangers fans for the majority spew out the usual lines of ‘give him a chance’ etc. Well, he didn’t give Curtis a chance, did he. He rejected him, chucked him out on loan, and has had to backtrack on that.
Curtis, going to the world cup with Scotland, had a stellar season with Kilmarnock and helped save them from relegation.
Thelo Aasgaard was chosen as the better bet.
Is there any wonder Ibrox Noise has no time or interest in Rohl?
His judgement is poor, his decision-making worse, and Curtis has absolutely shown him up.
Curtis’ place in the USA this summer is incredibly well earned. He’s shown maturity, guile and played a huge role in Killie’s success this term.
But Rangers instead had a manager sticking by the waster that is the Norwegian international and giving him minutes to do very little.
Of course, it’s Rohl’s job to make these judgement calls, and even Walter didn’t get them all right.
But Curtis really has made his manager look like an idiot here.
Some will make the argument that he wasn’t ready for Rangers. That he needed time away on loan to develop first.
So then why loan him to Killie? Plastic pitch, threat of relegation, and a dogfight. That doesn’t seem like the ideal spot to develop a youngster and get him minutes.
It seems like Rohl just wanted shot of Curtis, didn’t see him as good enough, and preferred wee Greta.
But Curtis has the last laugh because he’s been outstanding.
And now he’s going to the USA.
