The one last thing that we will discuss regarding Andrew Cavenagh and his extraordinary interview given to Rangers TV and to the press regarding the situation with Danny Rohl was his insistence that he believed Danny Rohl would win the title next season, despite the fact that Danny Rohl came in in October and never topped the table at all, significantly for a single match day.
Cavenagh convinced Rohl can win title
He believes this guy, who could not even win a single significant split match, in fact losing all of them bar one, that he is the man to take Rangers to title 56 next season. We find this an absolutely baffling show of defiance and standing by your man, and it seems purely for the point of digging his heels in.
His reasoning does not appear to add up, and the fact that he believes someone who has proven himself to be a loser is in fact a winner, and that this club is a must win club, and he is to win the title with us, does not seem to be an entirely working system.
Rangers fans unconvinced by manager
That said, it appears to be, quite frankly, a paradox, a dichotomy. How can Rangers fans trust Danny Rohl to deliver a title when he appears to be disliked intensely by the squad, by the fans, and does not seem to have any nous or managerial acumen for the sort of thing that it requires to win a title?
The fact that he finished third in a two horse race in Scotland is absolutely abominable. Obviously, he was indeed picking up Russell Martin’s mess, but he created his own. He was even, in the end, worse than Russell Martin.
Historic failures continue under Rohl
He has achieved the ignominy of being the first Rangers manager to lose this number of matches in a row since 1983. It might have been 1986. That is still, however, a long time ago. It is an abysmal record.
Rohl has been out of his depth from the word go, and yet his chairman believes he is the man to win Rangers the title.
