Ibrox Noise, of course, revealed to you, to much consternation from some portions of the support, that Danny Rohl was likely to be leaving Rangers via mutual consent this summer. This was due not only to the performance, but also to family issues, with the German manager being away from his nearest and dearest for the best part of several years and only seeing them around five instances per year. Not exactly working terribly well for him. Consequently, Rangers are having to deal with that situation.
Andrew Cavenagh Did Not Want Rohl
However, further developments have appeared in the form of chairman Andrew Cavenagh. Andrew Cavenagh did not want Danny Rohl. Yes, there is an Ibrox Noise exclusive for you. Andrew Cavenagh wanted Steven Gerrard, and when Steven Gerrard said no after the interventions of both Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart, Cavenagh did indeed get in touch with Gerrard, trying to make him change his mind.
He was not keen on Danny Rohl as a fourth choice, but accepted Kevin Thelwell knew better. Of course, as we are now starting to finally see, that was not the case. Kevin Thelwell did not know better.
He was a big part of Russell Martin coming in, although fundamentally that was Patrick Stewart’s choice, but Danny Rohl was most certainly Kevin Thelwell’s.
Rangers Admit Mistakes
And Keith Jackson, who is very close with Rangers hierarchy, has revealed one key aspect, which is that the management and ownership now realise that they have made two mistakes. The major one is that they took their eye off the ball following the takeover, trying to get the club settled, and made the wrong choice with both Rohl and certainly with Martin.
In short, they were too busy dealing with the business side and let the wrong people deal with the football side. Now it is down to getting the right people into the football side.
That sees Danny Rohl’s position as untenable.
Cavenagh, of course, did publicly back his man. He announced that Martin had been a mistake, and he tried to portray Rohl as the answer. This was him acting in good faith, hoping to find a gem in the form of Rohl. He was hoping that Rohl would defy his own misgivings.
But alas, that is not the case.
Rohl’s Position Looks Finished
Rohl has been a complete disaster, as we are now finding out. Of course, everyone who is on his side, although that number is now reducing, continues noting where Rangers were, quote unquote. We keep seeing that statement, but it is becoming tiresome and slightly less used now.
But Cavenagh, and this is the big problem, sees the major issue in front of him much more vividly than anyone at Rangers previously did. He can now see that Danny Rohl is the wrong man to go forward with.

Consequently, Rohl is very, very unlikely to remain in position going forward.
Payoff And Exit Strategy
He may, in fact, be blessed by Cavanaugh with a sacking and a payoff, which was, of course, his major incentive for taking a job he was only fourth choice for in the first place.
He withdrew from Rangers because he was embarrassed about being so low in the pecking order and then finally took the job once Thelwell bribed him with a higher salary and better terms.
So in the event of being relieved of his duties, Danny Rohl would get a very tasty payoff, just like Russell Martin. The owners can afford to do so. They do not want to lose money at all, but they know that the long term gain is worth the short term pain of paying Rohl off.
Even mutual consent will still require big cash to be delivered to the German’s doorstep.
But he is abundantly the wrong guy, and now the club is looking into replacing him.
