For too long a complete lack of Rangers has enveloped our club, filled with mercenaries, foreign and otherwise. But a true Rangers man is finally helping Chairman Andrew Cavenagh.
And now it feels like Cavenagh is demanding that changes. And we’re going to tell you why.
From Elliot Watt, who we understand is one of us, to David Watson, who has had a top season with Killie, and naturally, the return of our very own Curtis who is being extended, it feels like the chairman alone is driving a new Scottish and Rangers core at the club.
Something that has been badly missed for quite a while.
A true Rangers man who?
Andrew Cavenagh and new CEO Jim Gillespie.
The chairman wanted Steven Gerrard as manager, it’s that simple. Steven Gerrard was box office. And Steven Gerrard’s first acts in the first 6 months of being boss were signing Scotty Arfield, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis, to name just three.
He also heavily used Ryan Jack. Fundamentally four strong alpha Rangers men who all made a big, big difference.
Cavenagh and Gillespie know this. They know the impact these kinds of guys had on Rangers. From the manager down to the players.
Rohl
For now Cavenagh is sticking with Rohl, but in recruitment the chairman is having a big say on the calibre who come in. Moreover the recruitment department answer to the chairman and the CEO (Jim Gillespie), not Rohl. And Gillespie is a big Rangers man who is advising the Chairman of Rangers’ best interests.
Make no mistake, Andrew Cavenagh wants to win, and Rohl let him down big time. As we know, Cavenagh targeted the players and the recruitment drive is trying to restore what level Rangers need and the kind of core required.
Hence Curtis’ new deal and the move for Shankland. And add the best of the SPL including a few more Rangers men and the Ibrox side is trying to find itself again. A true Rangers man is finally helping Chairman Andrew Cavenagh. A long time coming.
