Rangers fans have been going ballistic recently over a post made by Nasser Djiga’s agent regarding Rangers off season. As we know, there is a bit of a mini break at Ibrox and in the Scottish Premiership due to both the split and the cup weekend coming up. Consequently, Rangers have some time off and will not be playing again until the 26th of April. This essentially means that Danny Rohl has had some time to do some work with the players and have a few bits and bobs sorted for the split end of the season.

Social media reaction sparks debate

However, this has also meant that social media has gone mildly bonkers with a recent post made by Nasser Djiger’s agent showing the pair of them in Marbella. Now of course the club’s training camp is there this spring, but why would Djiga’s agent be there?

Djiga Agent gets involved

But consequently, what happens with Djiga? Well, we did know categorically that he was not staying at Rangers. Rangers didn’t deem the price as worth what he has contributed overall this season. That may have changed. Everything is, of course, dynamic. It may change depending on how the split goes. If Rangers do win the league, then there will be some extra cash and a guarantee now, give or take, of the Champions League, which may offer a change.

His agent Sebastien Armesen shared the photo of the two of them there, but what does that mean? Does it mean the agent is now working on terms to keep Djiga at Ibrox? Is he negotiating with the player himself regarding his own future and a return to Wolves?

Wolves valuation and Rangers stance

But as things stand, Djiga is going back to Wolves. But, his journey to Marbella with his agent does suggest that there is a bit of discussion going on there. He is a Wolves player and has been given permission to discuss anything with a new club if Wolves are deeming to sell him. But this changes things. Maybe. As we have explained before, Wolves have put a £10M price tag on his head. That is the going rate for a top quality defender these days at Scottish Premiership level. But Rangers do not feel that he is worth that kind of cash, despite the fact that Rangers splashed £11M on Youssef Chemiti and £5M on Ryan Naderi.

Final decision looms this summer

Nevertheless, the club has decided that Djiga is not worth in that ballpark. Do we agree? In fairness, we probably do. He was bought by Wolves in the first place for £13M from Red Star Belgrade, and his journey there did not work out too well for the Premier League side. They look like they will be relegated this season as it is. They will not be keeping Djiga because they will require to sell surplus players to compensate the shortfall of parachuting down into the Championship. As it stands, Djiga will have to make up his mind as to where he is going. One thing is for sure at no point is it going to be considered that he will be signing for Rangers permanently for £10M. Despite Nasser Djiga’s agent.

Reduce the price, Wolves.
