It’s becoming pretty clear that Rangers manager Danny Rohl has made an error with Findlay Curtis and Danny Rohl may correct it.
The playmaker has starred for Neil McCann’s Kilmarnock, but is now adding Scotland senior caps to his CV as well.
It’s one thing to shine for relegation-threatened Killie in the SPL, quite another to do it at international level even in a friendly.
We already know Rohl has made many rookie errors as manager, despite many fans’ hero worship of him, and this is a rookie error with a rookie.
Energy
Curtis looked bright. He looked energetic. But Rohl decided the likes of Thelo Aasgaard were better squad prospects than the Auchenhowie graduate and farmed him out.
Aasgaard has absolutely sunk at Ibrox, while the-now Scotland international has soared.
Rangers have been poor up front – aside Mikey Moore, who’s picked up form the past few months, few have sparkled there.
It would be better to use Curtis in the front three of Ibrox than the front three at Killie.
Rohl’s justifying this loan explaining that the boy needed minutes. Well, hindsight might be 20-20 but those minutes are better spent benefiting Rangers than another team.
Of course despite his bright cameo against Japan, Steve Clarke didn’t bother with the boy against Ivory Coast. Scotland lost that one too.
Mismanage

That’s two managers mismanaging the lad, of course they are.
Seems to be the way for bright young players.
We’re sure the pro-Rohl crowd will be telling us that the manager is playing this one right, trust in Danny, etc.
Trust
But we think the best trust is him trusting Curtis in our shirt in the first place. Rather than palming him off on another club.
Palming him off, then realising the boy is much better than going out on loan, as already highlighted by this Ibrox Noise analysis.
Ibrox Noise wasn’t massive fans of Curtis either, we weren’t sure he was shining enough at Ibrox ourselves. But we’re not paid the hundreds of thousands a year to make those calls that Rohl is. He sees this stuff daily and yet still believed Curtis wasn’t ready or good enough.
Well Scotland caps and goals at Killie suggest he probably is. Findlay Curtis and Danny Rohl is a small saga.
Rangers must recall him soon and give him a proper chance in the shirt.
