Confusion at Ibrox after Rangers contract contradiction

There is confusion today after it was reported that Liam Kelly has a contract expiration this summer. The confusion is a result of a contrary report by a very well known Rangers man in the form of Barry Ferguson. Ferguson recently let it slip on radio that Kelly had in fact signed a one year extension. This has not been reported yet, and of course Liam Kelly contract extension could be incorrect.

Contract confusion deepens

The report that his contract expires in the summer of 2026 comes from the Daily Record. They do have a strong track record ever since the takeover. They have reported more facts than fiction regarding Rangers. However, Ferguson himself may indeed be regarded as a friend of Kelly. And of course was himself not that long ago interim manager. So he may well have an inside line, and of course infamously let slip about this alleged extension.

Conflicting sources create uncertainty

So it is unclear whether or not Liam Kelly actually has an expiring contract this summer. Or indeed the summer of 2027. This has led to reports regarding Pierre Charles, regarding Jack Butland and Kelly’s futures. No one quite knows now what the actual hardline situation regarding Rangers goalkeeping situation actually is.

Goalkeeping situation unclear

Consequently, if Rangers are interested in Pierre Charles, it could be at the expense of Liam Kelly. But that would make no sense if Liam Kelly contract extension is true. It is a bit of a grey area, and we would definitely appreciate some official clarity to clear this one up.
