Ibrox Noise was absolutely bewildered and more than a touch taken aback by an apparent exclusive story doing the rounds online. Specifically, it came from a source that is not a certified Rangers source but does operate under the club’s name. We are not going to call them by name because we are unsure of their legitimacy. We know who they are, give or take. They have provided an exclusive Derek Cornelius story online which Ibrox Noise is more than a little taken aback by.
Shock claim emerges from unknown source
In simple terms, the claim is being made that there has been a massive fallout at Ibrox involving Derek Cornelius and Danny Rohl. Where this originates from, we have no idea. It is being claimed this morning that Cornelius has been effectively told to pack his bags and leave.
Serious allegations raise eyebrows
This is more or less the insinuation that this story is implying. The Canadian defender, who only a week or so ago was happily training away ready to return, has now been told to ‘eff’ off and is not welcome at Rangers anymore. The claim is further made that he has had to empty his locker at Ibrox and is no longer part of Rangers’ first team.
Story appears from nowhere
This story has come literally out of nowhere. Ibrox Noise understands that Rangers had made a decision on his contract and they would be taking up the option to secure him permanently. So quite where this new story comes from, we are not entirely sure.
Content farms and clickbait concerns
We are aware that many online Rangers sources that are what you would call content farms will produce completely fiction stories. Said source (we’d never heard of them till today) is part of this kind of network. These are based on absolute clickbait purely to drive traffic. This may well be one of those.
How these networks operate
We are well aware of how it works. Monetisers and content producers create these server farms, these content farms. They use different club names in order to drive traffic to monetising and ads. We know of at least one rival site to ours. We will not produce their name. They form a so called family of similar types of sites for other clubs throughout the UK. We’re not condemning the practise but the content lacks integrity.
Ibrox Noise ourselves also rely on advertising revenue to keep the lights on and bring the content to you. We don’t endorse every ad you see, it is just a necessary evil to keep a free service. Ibrox Noise will never make you pay for material unless that is something you actually want us to do.
Lack of sourcing remains a problem
Most of these other sites are using completely light ‘fluff’ stories that already exist in the media. This is not in itself specifically a problem. However, they also lack proper sources. They also use rivals to comment on our club, whoever our club might be. It’s Rangers in this instance, of course.
Cornelius claim looks highly questionable
But the point is, this Derek Cornelius story really is a creative one. If there is any truth in it, it is absolutely staggering that Rohl and Cornelius have fallen out.
Open minded but doubtful
It is also very likely to be a complete fiction to drive traffic. We cannot understand why a professional like Cornelius would fall out with Rohl. Why would Rangers ditch Cornelius like this. Everyone would find this a pretty unexpected turn of events, to say the least. It is not what our information tells us. But hey, we occasionally accept that we could be wrong.
But we just don’t think this is one of those occasions.
